Logline: Living in a stilt house above polluted waters, a mussel farmer and his wife fight to sustain their family as reclamation projects, environmental degradation, and government neglect threaten their livelihood, home, and future.
Synopsis: Karatig-Tubig follows the life of Jerry and Carmelita Gervacio, a mussel farmer and mussel cleaner raising four children in a stilt house above the waters of Bacoor Bay, reachable only by boat. As large-scale reclamation and dredging projects advance around their community, the water that sustains them grows increasingly polluted, and daily life becomes more precarious. Although offered government relocation housing in Naic, Cavite, the family chooses not to stay there as their livelihood, knowledge, and dignity are inseparable from the water. Caught between displacement and survival, the Gervacios continue to live and work in the bay, asserting their right to remain in the only environment that allows them to provide for their children, even as they long for a future of stability without the loss of livelihood.
